Ontario East Municipal Conference 2022

Wednesday, September 14th to Friday, September 16th

The 2022 Ontario East Municipal Conference (OEMC) will be in person, Wednesday, September 14 to Friday September 16 at the DEV Hotel & Conference Centre in Cornwall.

REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

There is still time to save if you register by August 31st. 

ACCOMMODATIONS

The accommodations room block will be at the DEV Hotel & Conference Centre where the Conference takes place (formally known as the NAV Centre).
You can now book directly by contacting the DEV Hotel & Conference Centre.
Guestroom rates include Full Buffet Breakfast served in the Propeller Restaurant.

CURRENT PROGRAM

The OEMC program includes a diverse and impressive array of speakers on current topics of interest in economic, workforce, community and municipal development.

The conference opens on Wednesday, September 14 at 10:00 am with greetings from our host communities and award-winning keynote speaker, Bill Carr!

Immediately followed by an opening plenary on Opportunities in Electric Vehicle (EV) Supply Chain in eastern Ontario with experts from Invest Canada, Invest Ontario, Lennox & Addington County and Kingston speaking on the recent $1.5 billion investment by Umicore announced in Loyalist Township.

These eastern Ontario towns will pay to ‘date’ you for a year

As part of a tourism initiative called “Date My County,” these towns in eastern Ontario want to pay a lucky winner to relocate there for a one-year courtship.

And they say romance is dead.

A new tourism campaign, launched by several counties in eastern Ontario, is looking for “The One” to spend time with, someone who “craves adventure” and “loves long strolls.”

The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry (SDG) are looking to find their love match in someone willing to commit to a yearlong sojourn.

Billed as “Date My County,” the tourism initiative is offering $1,500 per month to the winner to live and work there, starting this fall, through January 2024.

Manager of economic development for the SDG, Tara Kirkpatrick, said the counties realized they needed to do something to set themselves apart from other relocation initiatives.
