Kingston Economic Development to Deliver Succession Ontario Program
Ontario’s first-ever business succession planning services hub to help entrepreneurs prepare for the critical process of smooth ownership transition will be delivered by an Ontario East member, the Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO). Succession Ontario will deliver on the government’s plan to protect Ontario businesses and workers providing essential tools and guidance to sell or buy a business, protecting good-paying jobs and strengthening communities across the province. Succession Ontario is an online hub that provides tools and resources to help business owners understand the requirements for selling and exiting their business. To further support the planning process, Small Business Enterprise Centres (SBECs) located across the province will receive training and resources to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to deliver one-on-one advisory services in their local communities.
Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network to Establish Regional Technology Development Site in Kingston
The Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN), led by the Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI), announced an investment to establish nine Regional Technology Development Sites (RTDS) to leverage Ontario’s regional strengths and expertise in automotive manufacturing, technology, and critical minerals, the RTDS provides a network for Ontario-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to drive the development, testing, and commercialization of automotive and smart mobility solutions across the province. The nine RTDS locations in Durham, Hamilton, Kingston, Northern Ontario, Ottawa, Simcoe, Waterloo, Windsor-Essex and York, are physical sites that connect post-secondary institutions, regional innovation centres, incubators and accelerators, industry partners, and municipal and regional resources to collaborate and accelerate made-in-Ontario solutions through homegrown companies. The Kingston RTDS will support the important automotive and smart mobility sector across the eastern Ontario region.
