Ontario East Assumes Leadership Role at the Ontario Manufacturing Communities Alliance (OMCA)
We are pleased to announce that Chris King, a past President and current Chair of the Ontario East Regional Marketing Committee will also serve as Chair of the Ontario Manufacturing Communities Alliance (OMCA). OMCA is a partnership of economic development organizations from across southern Ontario committed to bringing new opportunities to the manufacturing sector. OMCA works pan-provincially to identify locations that offer opportunities for new investment and business growth enhancing Ontario East's regional investment promotion activities. In 2025 membership in OMCA allowed Ontario East to have a presence at several international trade shows and participation in over 60 investment meetings. As a long standing member of OMCA Ontario East continues to enjoy a strong manufacturing sector and is positioned for future growth in key sectors including defence and energy. Thank you to Chris, who is the CEO of the Quinte Economic Development Commission for taking on this new role on behalf of the Ontario East Economic Development Commission. Ontario East is a Designated Referral Partner for the Global Talent Stream and Global Skills Strategy
The Government of Canada’s Global Skills Strategy helps attract highly qualified talent from around the world to support the growth of companies in Canada, spurring innovation and driving our economy, ultimately creating more jobs as well as skills and training investments for Canadians. As part of the Global Skills Strategy, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) Dedicated Service Channel provides personalized client service delivery for companies making large, job-creating investments in Canada either by setting up operations for the first time in Canada or significantly expanding here.
Any member of the Ontario East Economic Development Commission or company in an eastern Ontario community referred to the program may access this service that provides a preliminary referral service to enhance customer service and support from the federal ministries noted at the links above.

The Summer Employment Opportunities (SEO) Program provides funding to eligible not-for-profit organizations, municipalities, Indigenous organizations and First Nation communities to create meaningful summer employment opportunities for students. The positions must focus on activities that support the key sectors of tourism, culture, sport, and recreation.
