Position: Tourism Development Officer

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Tourism, the Tourism Development Officer works as part of a high-energy team, responding to lead and advancement inquiries. Playing a critical supporting role to attract new tourism business investment to the region, this position also works with existing local tourism businesses to identify opportunities for growth as well as proactively identify challenges that may cause a business to consider relocation. The Tourism Development Officer works with key partners across the business, academic, sustainable and innovative community to create long-term growth and prosperity for the region. This position provides one-on-one, on-site consultation with businesses to explore matters such as marketing opportunities, operational and financing challenges, human resources issues, and strategic planning. The incumbent also leads the investment attraction of meetings, conferences, sports tourism and the group travel sectors.
The expected outcomes of this role are to attract, retain and expand existing tourism-based businesses which will ultimately generate high-value jobs in the Peterborough & Kawarthas region.

Eligible companies are headquartered in the Eastern Ontario and can demonstrate significant year-over-year revenue growth over a three-year period.

Overview of the Corporation Founded in 1990, Grenville Community Futures Development Corporation (Grenville CFDC) is a community-based, nonprofit corporation receiving funding from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario to deliver the Community Futures Program to the Town of Prescott, the Municipality of North Grenville and the Townships of Augusta and Edwardsburgh Cardinal.
Role Our Board of Directors is a governance board. Directors define our mission, shape strategy, monitor progress and fulfill the governance responsibilities for the Corporation.
Duties and Responsibilities • Commit to a three-year term with the option to pursue a second three-year term • Participate in 6-8 Board of Directors meetings per year (blend of in-person and virtual) • Attend the Annual General Meeting of the Corporation annually (Sept. 28 this year) • Actively serve on at least one Committee of the Board • Review agenda and supporting materials in advance of each Board and Committee meeting • Participate in corporate decision making • Participate in setting and monitoring the strategic directions and policies of the Corporation • Ensure fiscal responsibility • Respond expeditiously to emerging and complex issues affecting the Corporation • Contribute to the ongoing and positive development of the Corporation’s reputation.
