Ontario East Congratulates New EDCO Board Members
Congratulations to Ontario East member Rob Nolan, Director of Economic and Development Services, City of Brockville on his election as President of the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) board of directors and to newly elected director Nour Mazloum, Marketing & Communications Officer, Kingston Economic Development Corporation. It's great to see eastern Ontario well-represented on EDCO!
Innovation Economy Council Releases Report on Boosting
the Innovation Economy
The Innovation Economy Council (IEC) released a report last week that looks at how immigrant entrepreneurs are boosting the innovation economy and how the federal Start-up Visa Program, Regional Innovation Centres (RICs) and Ontario organizations are playing a big role.
In the report, Spark Centre's President and CEO, Sherry Colbourne speaks to the success of the SUV program and how it has bolstered both the innovation ecosystem and the economy for Eastern Ontario.
Our current Executive Director will be retiring shortly and we are recruiting our next visionary leader to step into this role. This is a full-time position.
The Executive Director will build on the organization's legacy and continue to achieve significant growth in our business community. We are looking for someone who will help us define and deliver a new set of footprints for our organization, our entrepreneurs and our communities. We are recruiting someone with strong leadership, strategy, business acumen, community development experience and engagement skills.
Smith Falls: Water Treatment Plant Development RFP
The Town of Smiths Falls will be seeking proposals for redevelopment concepts that will see the revitalization of the former Water Treatment Plant at 25 Old Mill Road, a key municipal waterfront property.
The water treatment plant property is a pivotal Smiths Falls location overlooking the Rideau Canal and Centennial Park, and within walking distance of the downtown core.
The redevelopment of this property will transform the area and seamlessly connect the downtown core to public park spaces on the beautiful Rideau Canal waterway.
The tender opens March 14, 2022 and closes May 6, 2022 at noon.
