Kingston Economic Development is very excited to be hosting the Kingston Syracuse Pathway Cross Border Conference on Health Innovation.
The conference is focused on health innovation and cutting-edge research from both sides of the border. The conference will take place on June 7, 2022 at the Holiday Inn Kingston-Waterfront (2 Princess Street.)
The Conference is a full-day event that includes networking, keynote speakers, panel discussions and a pitch competition for startups in the life and health sciences with a $5,000 prize for the top pitch.
Discussion topics will focus on vaccines, global health, infectious diseases, research covering Lyme disease, and sharing new ideas and innovations to improve health care.

On Which of these 3 Workforce Development Committees Should Your Team Be?
As workforce development quickly becomes a shared responsibility across eastern Ontario, OE-TISP is here to help. We have three committees presently bringing the key stakeholders in workforce development together for virtual meetings to share ideas, resources and to problem-solve and design solutions. Look at the list below and email Alysha Dominico, OE-TISP Project Coordinator at workforcedevelopment@ontarioeast.ca to get your team to the meeting invites.
1) OE-TISP Skilled Trades Committee: if you are concerned about getting and keeping people in skilled trades in eastern Ontario, you should be on this committee. Meets monthly on 3rd Tuesday at 11 am.
2) OE-TISP Advisory Committee: if you are an EDO who is focused on workforce development, you should be on this committee. Meets every two months on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 2 pm.
3) OE-TISP Immigration Committee: if you care about the attraction and retention of new Canadians in eastner Ontario, you should be on this committee. Meets monthly on the first Tuesday of the month, 11 am.
Position: Economic Development Officer, Permanent, full-time
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the President/CEO, the Economic Development Officer works as part of a high-energy team, responding to lead and advancement inquiries. Playing a critical supporting role to attract new business investment to the region, this position also works with existing local businesses to identify opportunities for growth as well as proactively identify challenges that may cause a business to consider relocation.
The Economic Development Officer works with key partners across the business, academic, sustainable and innovative community to create long-term growth and prosperity for the region. This position provides one-on-one, on-site consultation with businesses to explore matters such as marketing opportunities, operational and financing challenges, human resources issues, and strategic planning.
The incumbent will actively oversee and administer the annual Regional Business Count Survey, including the data analysis and research this entails.
The expected outcomes of this role are to attract, retain and expand existing businesses which will ultimately generate high-value jobs in the Peterborough & Kawarthas region.
