Members and Non-Members are welcome for what will be a great opportunity to learn about new programs, opportunities and meet some great people as we wind up a busy 2023.

Umicore’s investment will create over 600 jobs in Eastern Ontario and strengthen Canada’s end-to-end electric vehicle supply chain
LOYALIST TOWNSHIP — The Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario are welcoming an investment from Umicore Rechargeable Battery Materials Canada Inc. to build a new manufacturing plant in Loyalist Township. The facility will manufacture cathode active materials (CAM) and precursor cathode active materials (pCAM), critical components for producing electric vehicle (EV) batteries.
The envisioned project, with a total eligible cost envelope of up to $2.761 billion, is planned to be executed in multiple stages. Today, Umicore is announcing its firm investment decision for the first stage of $2.1 billion, of which $1.8 billion is capital expenditures, for a battery materials production capacity of 35 GWh annually.
The Wood Manufacturing Cluster of Ontario has been successful in securing funding for WMCO wood manufacturing members in Ontario.
The project is over 2.5 years and will fund 50 companies with digital integration projects. The first round will fund 10 companies for expenditures between April 1, 2023 and with final expense claims due February 28, 2024. This is to meet the WMCO’s March 15 reporting schedule required by FedDev Ontario, as the funding provider.
Future rounds:
April 1, 2024- Feb 28, 2025: 18 Projects April 1, 2025- Feb 28, 2026: 22 projects- 2 at half the budget amount
